A chimney is one of the most vulnerable parts of a property because it is exposed to weathering on all sides. Water infiltration is the most common cause of mortar joint failure and follow-on chimney damage. Water can enter the chimney and cause damage by freeze thaw process, if the proper steps are not taken.
Once a chimney begins to deteriorate, the rate at which it continues to deteriorate grows exponentially. Repairing them as soon as possible costs less and protects you from much greater expense in the future.
